I'm not going to waste your time beating around the bush.

If Israel was a business, there would be no mistaking the fact that it's a dismal failure.

Does the fact that Israel is a country instead of a business somehow mitigate the fact that it's a dismal failure?

Does Israel benefit somebody so greatly that the befit outweighs the negative factors?

Who exactly does it benefit?

Does it benefit the American people?

Is it a "strategic asset" of the American people?

Or is it a liability for America?

How much money does it cost American taxpayers?

What exactly do we get for our money?

Does it have a positive impact on America's reputation with the rest of the world?

Are other nations more friendly toward us because of our support of Israel?

Is the money we spend on Israel somehow saving somebody from a Holocaust?

(Am I an idiot because I think it would be worth it if the money we spent on Israel was in fact saving people from a Holocaust?)

Does Israel benefit the Jewish people?

Are people less inclined to be anti-Semitic because of Israel?

Or has Israel made more people more inclined to dislike Jews?

Does Israel benefit the Palestinian people?

Does Israel benefit the Arabs in general? Or the billion or so Muslims throughout the world?

Does Israel benefit American Arabs?

Is Israel in any way responsible for the 1990-91 Gulf War?

Is Israel in any way responsible for the September 11 terrorist attacks on New York and Washington, D.C.?

Many people feel that Israel has the best Airline Security in the world -- but why does it need the best Airline Security in the world?

How can we use Israel as a model of how to deal with terrorism when it is agonizingly obvious that, after 50 years of Israel's advanced methods of dealing with terrorists, terrorism against Israel has continued unabated for the 54 years of Israel's existence?

Or to put that another way, does Israel have the most advanced method of stopping terrorism or provoking terrorism?

This is a tough question. (It is, in my opinion, the question that is behind the behavior of people like Ariel Sharon or Meir Kahane.) How can Israel look forward to a peaceful future as long as the people they stole their country from live right next door to them? In my opinion, Israel has no future until it answers that question. The tough part: neither Israelis nor Diaspora Jews seem to have the balls to even ask that question ... because part of asking it is acknowledging the fact that they stole Palestine from the Palestinian people.

How do you live in peace next door to people from who've stolen EVERYTHING?

One thing is certain: It's time to ask some hard questions about Israel.
